The Carnmoney Community Friendship club which has been running since 2020 enables local people of all faiths and none to gather together over refreshments, make new friends, talk together and enjoy a wide range of different activities. The first part of the meeting always includes a table quiz followed by a different activity each month. These includes Bingo, indoor games, indoor aerobics and much more. After refreshments we then hear from a speaker and have the chance to ask questions and engage with the topic they have spoken about. We also hold various parties with entertainment and food at Christmas and around St. Patrick’s day and end our programme with a summer outing. The club is run by church volunteers and everyone of whatever age is welcome with great fun being had by all at our meetings.

A wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by all at the Community Friendship Club on Wednesday 8th December, with more than 40 participants in attendance. Following an EU-themed quiz, we took part in a lively Beetle Drive before hearing from Andy, who shared highlights from his sabbatical in England over the summer.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th November, when Kelly Roulston from Northern Ireland Hospice will be joining us as our guest speaker. The afternoon will also include games and armchair aerobics led by Carol - so come along for fun, fellowship, and friendly conversation!

April 2025

At our April meeting of the Community Friendship Club we held a Variety Show at which members of the group showed off their various skills through song, poetry, monologues and jokes.

It was a great afternoon which had a lot of talent on show.

11th december 2024

Fifty-seven of us had a great time at the Carnmoney Community Friendship club Christmas Party on Wednesday afternoon.

After a beautiful meal of chicken curry and beef stroganof, provided for us by the Hard Hat catering Company, we enjoyed musical entertainment from Nicola Murray, a Christmas quiz from Trevor, comedy from Denis O'Connell and a fun game involving three walking sticks!

The afternoon was rounded off by a visit from Santa who gave selection boxes to everyone there.

We had 43 attendees at our Community Friendship Club on Wednesday 13th November who all enjoyed the armchair aerobics led by Carol and various indoor games, before Kelly Doyle, the Age Friendly Officer from the Council, spoke to us about issues such as home safety, good nutrition and energy efficiency.

Trevor's quiz on popular proverbs was as popular as ever, as was the lovely apple tart provided by Jean.

We are now preparing for our Christmas Party on Wednesday 11th December at 1pm.

The Community Friendship Club ended their year with a trip to the Whitehead Railway Museum on Wednesday 12th June.

Forty-one of us boarded a coach at Carnmoney taking the short trip to Whitehead where we were shown around the museum and grounds in three groups by very knowledgable volunteer tour guide.

After the visit we were able to relax in the cafe over a cup of tea before return home to Carnmoney. It was a fascinating visit thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

We had a fascinating and stimulating afternoon at the Community Friendship Club this month.

After bingo, Jackie Bingham, Development Officer for NI Libraries, told us about the many services the library offers before leading us all in a sing-song. We weren't expecting that!

Our Community Friendship Club really went with a swing this afternoon as a record attendance of 74 people enjoyed a St Patrick's Party accompanied by some great music from "The Rogues".

There was plenty of green on show, singing, dancing and great food as usual from the Hard Hat Catering Company. We'll have to do it agian next year!

Avid concentration at our Community Friendship Club Beetle Drive this afternoon. We also watched a film: "Those were the Days" about life in the 1960s which brought back a lot of memories for some.
