The Men’s Group enjoyed a memorable outing on Saturday 11th October, visiting the historic Carrickfergus Castleon the shores of Belfast Lough. The group spent time exploring the castle’s rich history - from its Norman origins right through to its more recent military use - with plenty of stories and laughter shared along the way.
It was a day of fellowship, friendship, and discovery, and a reminder of just how much we have to enjoy on our own doorstep.
We’re already looking forward to the next Men’s Group event - keep an eye on the church notices for details!
Men from the parish and its various groups enjoyed a sumptuous full cooked breakfast together in the Church Hall, all prepared by men from the church.
After breakfast, we adjourned to the Memorial Room where Marcus Christie from the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance told us about the fantastic work that the organisation carries out 365 days a year. £355 was raised towards the work of the Air Ambulance as a result of the morning.
Carnmoney Men's Group enjoyed an interesting afternoon at Killead Parish Church which is situated in the middle of the Aldergrove air base.
After viewing the 46 war graves in the graveyard and hearing a talk from Stephen (one of the parishioners) about the features in the church, we enjoyed a sumptuous tea in the parish hall, provided by the ladies of the parish.
